Board level appointments in Balmer Lawrie
Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., a Mini Ratna Category-I PSE under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, has announced important leadership changes at the Board level. Mr. Viren Sinha has taken over as Chairman & Managing Director (C&MD) of the Company with effect from January 1, 2012. He succeeds Mr. S K Mukherjee. Prior to his appointment as C&MD, Mr. Sinha was Director [Service Businesses], overseeing the Tour & Travel and Logistic businesses of the Company. In his 31 years of experience, of which 2 years were outside Balmer Lawrie. During his tenure in the company, he has successfully handled diverse leadership roles in Sales & Marketing, Operations and Materials Management, including 11 years as the Head of Company’s operations in UK. Mr. P.P.Sahoo has been elevated to the Board as the Director [HR & Corporate Affairs] with effect from 14th. December 2011. Besides the Human Resource, Corporate Communications, CSR, HSE & Sustainability functions, Mr. Sahoo will also be responsible for the Strategic Planning function of the Company. He has 33 years of experience, of which 24 are in Balmer Lawrie in HR & General Management roles. He has been responsible for reorienting the HR paradigm of BL and modernising the HR systems & processes of the legacy company.
