ISO-TS 16949: 2009 certification for Balmer Lawries Lubricants Plant in Silvassa

Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., the highly diversified PSE under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG), implemented ISO/TS 16949: 2009 at its Greases & Lubricants Plant in Silvassa to bring in international practices in Quality Management System towards design and manufacture of lubricants & greases. This certification will help to meet the requirements of the Automotive OEMs especially the MNC OEMs such as Suzuki, Toyota, Ford, Renault, Hyundai etc.
 
Shri Sasim Chattopadhyay, Head Operations, Kolkata, M/s DNV handed over this prestigious ISO/TS 16949 certificate to Shri Prabal Basu, Chairman & Managing Director, Balmer Lawrie, in the presence of the Board of Directors of Balmer Lawrie, on 6th March at Vedic Village, Kolkata. This certification is another feather in the cap for this Government of India Enterprise, which is well focused to strengthen its foothold in the automotive sector both in India and abroad. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Chattopadhyay said, “It’s a journey to excellence through continual improvement and DNVGL feels proud to be associated with Balmer Lawrie in their journey to excellence.”

ISO/TS 16949 is a globally recognized quality management system for the automotive sector. It provides a framework for achieving best practices with regards to the design and manufacture of products for the automotive supply chain. ISO/TS 16949 was developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) to create common processes and procedures by the International Automotive industry. This International Standard promotes the adoption of a process approach when developing, implementing and improving the effectiveness of a quality management system, thus enhancing customer satisfaction by meeting customer requirements.
